I am doing re-financing. The mortgare broker send us the loan application form adn on which
they already checked Yes for citizen and No for PR alien boxes even on the phone they never
asked for that information. Did they just assume most people are citizens and let applicants
corretc otherwise or they have a way to know?

I remmember last time, we needed to prepare GC copy . Is it so only non-citizens need to provode
documnattion of their immigration status but citizens do not need to provide anything that is proof
of citizenship and they just take our words for that?

Correct. Falsely claiming U.S. citizenship is a crime, so I'm guessing that companies/organizations assume that an individual won't risk committing a crime by lying about their status.

The new I-9 form now ask citizen or national seperately. I don't know if there is a law that also say
it is crime to claim to be a US national. It is a crime to lie on I-9 of course but false claim to be a US national
alone may not be a crime.

Census 2010 form now does not ask citizenhip anymore. If it still ask, and oen falsely anser Yes, I don't
know if one can be prosecuted for that crime or not. Because form itsel say any answer made on this form
can not be used in court

Funny you mention this. I am refinancing and the application had us as PR. We got it corrected to USC as we both are USC. I do not think they know the status through any other source.
