Does my Father need to apply OCI Again?

I was reading the guidelines of OCI that state: "OCI Registration Certificate and Visa have got to be re-issued each time a new passport is issued up to the completion of 20 years of age and once after completion of 50 years of age". (http://www.mha.nic.in/pdfs/GuidelinesOCI.pdf

My Father got his first OCI at the age of 54. Now he has got his new US passport. Does he need to again apply for OCI Miscellaneous Services?

No. After age of 50 years, OCI need not be renewed. At least that is my understanding of the requirement.

I agree with"nkm-oct23" they have not cleared it so that lay person can understand the guidelines.

Your Father should take Expired US passport that has U visa and New US passport and OCI Document with him when he goes to India.

Nothing wrong if you send email to MHA or to nearest Indian Consulate to clear the matter. if your Father is staying near to consulate and has time he can the confusion from Consulate ( Babu with Consulate may also be confused).
