Usually it does not, but incase you are having problems like "Case not found" on the Automated Voice Response System, it gets resolved, or if your case is delayed because of system problems, then it comes to the attention of the INS

And also

incase your case got an RFE, but you never received the notice (lost in mail or due to some unforseen events)....your 485 will get simply rejected if you don\'t find out about the RFE incase if you don\'t check the status with IIO

Most of the time, it\'s not useful to call an IIO. However, if your case takes much longer than usual or if there\'s something wrong, calling IIO could be helpful.
