Does invitation letter require for self sponsors?

My uncle and Aunt are going for Visitor visa interview. They are self sponsors.
  • Do I need to send invitation letter to them even though they are self sponsors?
  • Do I need to send letter to the Visa officer even though they are self sponsors?

My sincere thanks to those who help me by answering these questions.
 
In my personal opinion and experience it is best not to rely on I-134s or any other documents for a B-2 visa. Since all individuals need to overcome 214(b) on their own, I see no point in invitation letters and financial guarantees.
