Does filing FOIA delay I-485 approval?

Hi -

I just filed FOIA with NSC for my Labor Certification and I-140 Approval Notice. Then, it occurred to me that by doing so, I am probably having the IIO at NSC pulling my file out of the queue and maybe, causing it to sit elsewhere while my fellow 1/03 filers' files moving along the production line. What is your take on this, gurus?

It'll probably take them longer to respond to your FOIA request than approving your file.

Also, I think you give them too much credit with "production line". I tend to view their operation more as a huge grain silo (why do you think the center is in Nebraska :D ), they drop the files in at the top, while IIO's pull out files at the bottom. (This would explain a lot of the apparent irregularity in the sequential processing that one would expect of a "production line")

When you do your FOIA, or other "special access", they dress up an IIO into an oxygen suit, and lower him in the silo to look for the file (this explains why it takes so long to locate a specific file)

If anything, when they find your file, you might get lucky and have the IIO process it while its out, or get unlucky and have them toss it back in at the top of the silo.

Thats my theory and I am sticking to it. (I just hope that I don't end up like Mel Gibson in that conspiracy theory movie :p )

C.L.A.S.S.I.C.! Ha ha ha...I laughed so hard that my stomach hurts. I wonder if there is a possibility of my I-485 file being fed to the farm animals that more I-485 applications can be hauled into the silo of NSC?

Have a great day...
