Does EAD mean legally able to work in the US? (experts plz advice)

Does having EAD mean, legally able to work in the US? I have seen it in most of the job listings recently.

EAD

EAD is the legal work authorization. Yes, one can work legaly with this document.
For the applicants whose I-485 is pending can work for the same employer with EAD or change employer after 180 days filing I-485 or taking part-time similar job as the full time job.
