Does change of address will effect GC?

Dear Freinds,

I am the primary applicant working with the same company (never changed the address or employer).

Here is the situation, about 15 months before my wife has moved out to PA for her residency. We filled AR11 explaining that PA address as temporary and old address (in CT as permanant address).

I am paying $1000 rent for an apartment just to maintain this permanant address, which I hardly use for 2-3 days a week. I was thinking of moving to some cheaper apartment to save some money.

Do you guys think this would be right decision to take or should I wait some more time to see if I could get approved?

I know changing address might wake them up but also I am worried about my wife, how should I file AR11 for her (what should be permanant and temporary addressess)?

Your thoughts will be a great help.

Thanks,

glb.

I don't think address has anything to do with GC(even though rumours of a relationship between the two abound)

If I were in your position, I wouldn't be spending 1000$ to maintain my old house.

I too agree, it will not effect to GC. Oh Boy' that is really waste of money.
$1000 for just maintaining the apartment r u serious?????

Spending $1000 every month for getting GC fast???????????
No way.
What a gamble ?
I will take the risk instead.

For change of address , you have to notify CIS by calling them.
They will say you will get notification letter in mail with in 30 days.

Call them again and again after waiting for 30 days if you didn't get confirmation letter in mail.

Change of Address will wake up Green card process if its sleeping.
Also it may invoke RFE on your case. But i feel something happening is better than nothing and thinking that i will get GC this month with this 1000$.

Are there any June 2002 fellows left .
Now a days i see that this forum is occupied by 2003 receipt date people.

Don't spend $1000 !!!!

I did change of address once and planning to change it again. My GC has been pending for more than 2 years and I held on to my original job for more than it was worth. Finally two months ago, I got really fed up and changed the job too. Now I am in a better position regarding my job. Fortunately the new job has a good attorney, who are going to pursue my GC case as they agree that it is overdue. So they are going through some liason process which will identify why my case has been delayed.

Just submit AR-11 and call NSC to update your address in all your pending applications (like I-485, EAD, AP if any). You need to provide Alien# (including your spouse's alien#s, kid's) when you call NSC.

Just an FYI,
Note that you cannot change address on your wife's application. Your wife needs to call to change her address. Make sure you call them (CIS) when you and family (other applicants wife, kids) are together.
And, as mentioned above, dont worry about address change affecting GC. Go right ahead and change your address.

No, you don't need to rent a apartment or buy a home to "maintain" your perm residency. That kind of stuffs applies only when you are living/staying abroad and want to show your "intend". As you are living in USA, you don't need to rent an apartment. Your address could be a motel address (if you are staying there for long time), RV park (if you living in a RV) or friend/relative's address (if you live there sometimes and you can be communicated at this address).

Hi

You can change your Address.
First Fill AR -11 and post it... for both your wife and you.

Then call INS 1800, and before calling keep all the inforamtion handy...linke all pending cases numbers, A#,Address etc. You can not change address on your wife application. so Call when you are at home, so that you can change yours, then you can tell them that you need to change address on your wife application too. so that they can talk to your Wife.

In Jan 2004 I moved from KS to VA, I changed address, then recently I changed address with in VA.

So dont waste money keeping APT for only address purpose......

Thanks for your replies and suggestions guys. I am going to move it now.

Thanks, I love this forum man.
