Does approval of EAD mean anything about 140

EAD for me and my spouse got approved , however 140 is still pending? Somewhere in this forum i read that only after doing some initial analysis of 140 , ins approves EAD.

Does that mean its matter of 140 getting thru the gates if EAD is approved?

Thanks

No, EAD being approved does not mean I 140 has been approved or denied. They are two separate processes, done by different Officers. I got My EAD two months after applying, and approval only after 1 year.

BTW, how long did it take for EAD to be approved? where did you file?

EAD approval for concurrent applications mean that 140 passed the superficial scrutiny test by BCIS for genuine ness.

jaxen can you through some insight

Recently i spoke to an IIO for finding the status of my 140 application. She told me that my 140 is pending. She asked me if 485 is applied or not. When i told her that 485 is applied subsequently and not along with the 140 application , she said "That is what is holding your application as they need to do prima facia ".

Now what i dont understand is

1. when EAD is approved in the case of concurrent applications, isnt prima facia or initial scrutiny done on 140? or is there a need for prima facia on 485 as well before they work on 140.

2. If it is true that 485 can hold back the processing of 140, then why is it that cp 140's are also getting delayed!!

I even got an advice that i need to have some patience.

This whole process looks so bleak.

Dont believe what IIOs say. They will say anything to make you sweat and stop calling.
And what makes you think just because I140 has passed prima facie test, your I140 should be approved. Find out what is the current processing time for your service center and call IIO only if it is more than 30 days from published processing time.
