On the NOA (I-797C), there is the application number which goes something like this: WSC*002xxxxxx

On the lower left side of the page, below the service center's address, there is a number that looks like this: WSC$002xxxxxx
This number is not the same as the application number. Any idea what it might be? Thank you.

That reference is used for check cashing reference. It's the same number as on the back on your endorsed check. Don't pay any attention to it.
