Does affidavit work ?

Anybody got 485 approved just with birth affidavits from family ?

or do they demand for birth certificate/nonavaialability letter etc..?

You have to produce both. A certificate of non availablility from the authorities from you country and also an affidavit from your parents if they are alive. If parents are not alive then the affidavit should be from the nearest relative like immediate uncle or aunt etc.
