A few days ago I had posted a question regarding the documents I would need to present in order to get the H1-B visa stamped on my passport in India, especially when I\'m in the I-485 stage. I was pointed to a web-site, which had some good info, but not the exact list of documents. Does somebody have a list that would tell me what documents I need to present? For example, I heard one needs to take your original I-485 receipt. A list would surely help.

Hi,

I donot think you need to have original I-485 receipt notice for H1B stamping. I had done my stamping in London last month and I just submitted my new H1B extension approval notice (Original) and just for safety, submitted my previous H1B approval notice. I am also at I-485 stage with RD in Jan. 2001.

I did that in Chennai, India. I sent my H1 approval and old approval just in case. Had my recent payslip and w2 for reference. I did not send anything else. I had applied for 485 and I mentioned that on the application. There was no problem and I got the stamping.
