The Document Checklist in the Guide to Naturatlization states that "If you have taken any trip outside of the U.S. that lasted for 6 months or more since becoming a permanent resident, send evidence that you and your family continued to live, work and/or keep ties tot he U.S. such as
a) IRS Tax return transcript for 5 years b) rent or mortage payment and pay stubs.

My wife\'s situation is that she was out of U.S. for more than a year, 5 years back. She is now eligible to apply. She has not been away for more than 6 months in the past 5 years. Does the above document requirement apply to her as well?

If applicable, then what sort of documents are usually attached to the application. Someone who has done this, if they can share, that will be great. My wife does not work and so there are no pay stubs. We own our own home, so there is no mortgage. She has obtained the IRS transcripts for 5 years, she has a copy of the deed to the house and copies of the property taxes paid in the past 8 years. Are these sufficient?

Thanks for all the input,

Chaudiah
