Hi,

Can somebody suggest a list of docs to be send with the N-400. My case is a little different as in i meet the physical residency requirements of more than 900 days, however continuous residency can be questioned - i had to temporarily take employment in India because of domestic violence and child abuse incident with my ex (no immediate family in the US + ex not helping out financially).

How long was your stay in India? Working and living in a foreign country is a sign of break in continuous residency that can't be overcome by proof of US residency ties.

My stay was for 2 years. Understand your point, but residency is a subjective case - if circumstances are beyond your control and you never intended to move out of the country but was forced to do so as living in the US at that time could cause considerable hardship, i think it is justified. However, would leave that for the officer to decide. Anyways, in terms of docs, is there a standard checklist that i can use? or people just send the N-400 and let the officer ask for additional docs.

why don't you look at the sticky thread at the top of this forum? It has an extensive list of documents required for N-400 and also for interview.

Determination of continuous residency is only subjective when an applicant is given the opportunity to provide proof of US residency ties during the stay outside US. Despite what you may think, leaving the US to work and live in your home country due to domestic violence and hardship is not justified when it comes to proving continuous residency.
