Documents required for Stamping

I just got my status changed from F1 to H1-B. I am planning a trip to India in Sept and was going through some of the websites about getting a multiple entry visa.

One of the documents required by Consulate for H1-B Visa stamping is Original I-797 Notice of Approval.

But, its specifically mentioned in I-797 that the Petitioner (ie the employer) should retaint the original I-797 and the Beneficiary (myself) should be given just the lower portion (left part of this is for my record, right part is I-94).

So, if the company should keep the original I-797, how can I submit it with my Visa application to Chennai consulate.

Any help is much appreciated.

No no, the I797 comes in two page part and the one attached with I94 (mentioned as top portion by you) is your portion. You can also ask employer to get another copy of I797 (I824) and use it. H1 is your document, it is of no use to the employer. Talk to the lawyer.
