Documents Required for B1 Visa for a freelance consultant

Hi,
We want to send a freelance consultant to USA for a client meeting who has been working with us for past 6 months. I want to know what are the documents he needs to take with him at the time of VISA interview apart from invite letter and passport. Do we need to give him financial docs of our company and does he need to carry his bank statement etc.

The applicant needs some sort of financial documents to prove that he will be able to support himself during the trip, whether his employer is paying for all his expenses or the applicant himself is financing this trip.
