Dear Forum,
I am surprised that there is no sticky on this basic question; but what documents are exactly needed when you apply for the green card. I can count these;
1) Filled and signed application
2) Fees
3) Medical exam form
4) I-94
5) asylum approval letter

I kinda read about a copy of your tax return, w2 forms, and leases, etc....
Do you guys really send these with the application?
Please advice!
BTW, I am single guy without any dependednts getting ready to send my GC app end of March 09

You will need the following:

1. Filled and signed application with the appropriate fees.
2. Completed medical from a USCIS certified surgeon.
3. Filled G-325A form
4. Proof of asylum grant which could be an I-94 stating asylum status or the decision letter from Immigration court or asylum officer.
5. Proof of 12 months of residence in the USA since asylum grant. This could be twelve consecutive bank statements, rent lease etc.
6. Two passport size photos.

You can go to www.uscis.gov and go to "Humanitarian Benefits" and scroll around and it will give you a full list.

Thanks! and Congrats for getting the GC!

I guess I am making things more difficult than what this application is realy is.

May I ask, what was the RFE they asked you for?

The RFE was for medical and they wanted me to fill the G-325A form again. Then the idiots misplaced my medical form. So I had to send them again and that is why my approval took long. My brother applied the same time and his application got approved three months ago. However, I am not complaining. I am just glad it finally got approved.
