Hello folks. I have a quick question. I am a GC holder and have the plastic card. I am going on a vacation trip to India in Dec for 35 days. I am making a list of all the docs which I need and here is what I have got:

1) Indian Passport (previous and current ones)
2) GC Plastic card
3) File with all of the Immigration docs so far
4) Copies of Papers about my home ownership

Would some gurus please help me out on any other things which I have missed out. Is an employment reference letter on the letterhead of my company necessary.

I would really appreciate your help as this is the first time I am going abroad since I came to the US.

Regards to all...

Always make 2 set of copies of all ur docs

1. All PP with all pages
2. All Apvl notices.
3. All IDs
4. All CC (credit cards) and note down all important phone numbers(bank , attorney etc, also write down all online account-ID + pwd in seprate paper with simple encypt).
5. SS card
6. EVL is good to keep (but not required. )

Take one set with u, and leave one set of sealed envelope to ur trusted relative./friend/attorney. incase.

Good Luck

why do you need anything other than GC and passport

you can keep color copies of passport and gc separately

The ONLY documents that you need is the Passport and the GC. Anything other than that is 'good to have' but not required. The trip is no different to lets say, a trip to Florida. The only difference is you will need GC and Passport to enter the US. Any other documents that you decide to take are extras, and you can use your commen sense to decide what to take and what not to take, just as you would for a trip to Florida.
