Documents for H-1 extension sent on Sept 10th, 2002. No receipt so far.

Is this unusual nowadays. Documents for H-1B extension was sent to Vermont Service Center on Sept 10th. Arent they supposed to send a receipt EAC number within 2-3 weeks. It is already Dec 3, 2002. No receipt so far. What do I do ?

You need to verify for sure that VSC received the petition. Then get the cancelled check from the bank. The receipt number will be on the cancelled check. Then call INS. It should not take this long to get a receipt from VSC.
