A friend of mine reffered this site to me. Can someone help me with what documents I need to submit for Citizenship? My son is 8 yrs. old. He too has a GC. I was told that only people with 18 or older are eligible to apply. How do I get the citizenship for him? Thanks in advance.

once you get your citizenship, you can apply citizenship for your son. i think it might require the form N-600, however, i am not too sure.

Once you become a citizen, your son automatically becomes a citizen and can apply for US passport based on your naturalization certificate. The passport is the ultimate document that serves as proof of his citizenship. However, if you prefer to have a saperate naturalization certificate for your son, then you can apply for it using N-600 after completion of your naturalization process.

I do not think the US passport is "the ultimate" proof of the US citizenship. However, it is one of the documents to prove your US citizenship. If you can skip the N600, then you can save yourself some $ and time.

(I just speak it out loud. I do not know if it would be an issue or not).

I had my interview on 9/21. It took just 10mts. The officer was very nice and polite. Few civic questions and it was over. I was given the Oath letter (scheduled for tomorrow 9/28) in person. I am happy to let you all know that my journey to citizenship has completed with the happy ending. Me and my family took the oath on Sept, 28th. The whole citizenship process took little over 3 months. This forum has been very helpful and thank you all for your input and help when I needed. I wish you all the very best.
