DOB on H-1B petition and with Passport office dont match
Hi Gurus,
I am going to India for my first time H-1B visa stamping from New Delhi in February. I had entered the US on an F1 and after completing my MS, I joined my current job and have been working for the last couple of years.
Now, for H-1B stamping, the consulate appointment site (ttsvisa.com) demands, apart from all other information, details of my passport. There's nothing wrong with that except that my date of birth (DOB) on my passport is different from whats on my H-1B petition. The error crept in from the fact that my DOB is not clearly legible (poor handwriting) on my passport, so what ever the consulate people understood (which was unfortunately incorrect), it was entered on my prior F1 that i had used for my previous entry and since my passport was my ID here in the US during my intial days, all the subsequent fedral and state IDs/documents (eg state ID/licence and later H-1B petition/LPR petition) have this wrong date of birth. Infact to maintain uniformity I have made the "wrong" date of birth as my official date of birth for all official documents in the US. There is no document here which has my original date of birth. Now my concern is that if prior to getting my H-1B stamped, if tts or US consulate checks passsport information (provided at the time of getting the appointment) with the Passport office, there might be an anamoly between the DOB on H-1B petition and information with the Passport office.
So my query is would this discrepancy cause any issue at the time of visa stamping. Do they really double check the passport information (especially DOB) with the Passport office in India (in my case New Delhi). Since all the papers have my erraneous date of birth, I want to maintain that as my real date of birth but for the date at the passport office, i am not sure what should be done.
Ginnu and other gurus, please help!
