do you get receipt notice for PP??

hi friends,
my friend applied for H1 premium processing (PP) from a university. he has not received receipt notice since 10 days. he sent an email to USCIS but they are not willing to tell anything to the benificiary. university attorney is saying he has not received either.
My question is do you guys get directly approval notice without the receipt notice for PP?? please let me know. many thanks for your response.
 
He can check on the USCIS website for an upgrade to PP or for an I-140 submission if the check has been cashed. I see an upgrade message for myself but havent seen the check cashed or a receipt. (from my office or havent asked them yet).

thanks dnastar,
attorney told him the receipt number now. we played some trick with the attorney though. i gave him one client and now attorney is very happy to say everything. looks like money works everywhere.
 
If his attorney cant even tell him the receipt number and you need tricks, there is a serious issue there!! My 2 cents...good luck with your case.
