Do we need to transfer H1 if current company merge with another company!!

I appreciate if some one can clarify my question:

I am working for a company A as a full time employee[H1 is with that company].Company A is got acquired/merged with company B. Today is the last pay check with comapny A and next pay check will be from company B.

Do I need to transfer my H1 to new company B in order to be on their payroll? in otherwords

"Both H1 and pay stub should be with the same company" is this valid if a company is acquired/merged"??

Please reply ASAP.

No it is not required. But it is highly recommended. You can still be on the payroll of the new co. as the new co. will be the successor of rights of the old co.

Had a similar situation 5 yrs. back ... No issues.
