Do we need to get a new SSN # after approval of conditional GC?

I had SSN for 8 years thru my work visa. I recently got a conditional GC based on marriage to USC. Do I need to get a new SSN# or a new card?

Also, if I do need new SSN will I lose the social security and medicare taxes I paid for last 8 years?

I am confused as some posts here refer to something of that sort like getting new SSN etc....

Thanks!

SSN will stay the same, and you keep your Social Security/Medicare credits.

However, you should visit the SS office to apply for a new card -- it will have the same number and name, but without the employment restriction wording on it. With that unrestricted SS card combined with a driver's license or state ID, you don't need to show the GC to accept a job.
