Do we need our passport for the interview?

I had to send my passport to get a visa for another country. It should be back around December 15, interview is on the 18th.

In case it doesn't make it I have a copy of all the pages of the passport.

Will I need it for the interview and, if so, is the copy enough?

Thanks.

It should be. Just explain why you don't have your passport. Have you spent a LOT of time outside the country? If you have, the IO could suspect you're trying to hide something, but this is pretty unlikely.

Nope, I'm usually 3 weeks away for every 1.5 years and always to my home country. The visa I'm getting now is for work.

Read your Interview letter carefully. If it says that you "must" bring your passport then your IO will ask for that and make a copy during interview.

I also did not have my passport on me when I went for my interview. I explained the situation as soon as the interview began. The IO just asked about how many times I had travelled out of the country and that was that.

First of all, why are you getting visa on a passport from the country of your current citizenship?

After interview and oath, you would be US citizen.
Would your current citizenship and passport still be valid after becoming USC?

Yes, my country (and the U.S.) allow dual citizenship. The question would be if the visa will still be valid since when I applied I had a greencard (assuming I get the citizenship before the trip).

(and if I had to chose one I'd chose the U.S. - no plans to go back)

Well, I guess it depends where you're going, and which other passport you have. I think, for example, India requires Pakistanis to travel on their Pakistani passport regardless of whether or not they are also citizens of other countries, unless they can prove they have renounced Pakistani citizenship.
