My H-1 has expired and the renewal process is underway. I know that I cannot travel to any place outside the US and re-enter the US until my renewal and revalidation is done. What I would like to find out is do I need a visa to travel to Hawaii.
Youd do not need a visa since Hawaii is US. But one of my friends had a horrible story. He went to the airport right after work on Friday to Hawaii to meet his girl friend for the weekend. The direct flight he booked was delayed for a long time. The airline was kind enough to put him on a different flight. He did not realised that the flight actually stoped at Canada. When it reached Hawaii, it was treated as international arrival to US from Canada. He had no passport (no way on visa or any immigration papers) with him. And he only had his working suitcase. The airline did him a favour again and slip him into US with flight crews. I guess it would be impossible now after 9.11.
