Hello all,
I am sending out my n-400 but i have a little worry. back when i was in college, i had a bank account closed because from no use, and there was money owed, from the bank charging me service fees which eventually sent me into the negative. Now they don't ask anything about it in the application but will it ever come up? it's been about 4 year now since that.
Also, i'm fairly sure i have filed taxes each year, but i don't have print-outs for all years(one from when i was in HS, one from college, and all since i graduated college), is there a way i can get confirmations from somewhere saying i filed? while in college i filed on the internet but the service doesn't exist anymore. As far as in highschool, i don't remember where i filed, but like i said i'm sure i did.
thanks for your time/response

thanks a bunch bob,
how far back do i need to show tax filing? i've heard they don't really ask for one if you were in college, and/or in high school?
also when i was in college i had a situation where GEICO had to submit an Sr-22 form to the dmv and i had to keep auto insurance for 1 year. is that reason to be concerned. that was back in 04. What about other traffic violations; are they worth noting? seat belt buckle, speeding ticket, accident etc thanks a bunch for your help.

If you apply based on 5 years rule, you will need 5 years tax transcript that shows you paid taxes or got refunds. if you apply based on marriage (3 years rule), you will need 3 years tax transcript.

You need to disclose all traffic citations if you have, but don't need to submit the documentation if they were non-dui/dwi or less than 500 dollars fine tickets. You can bring traffic records (court records that show that you paid fine and dmv records that shows how many points you have) to the interview. having violations doesn't mean your citizenship application is not approved. Just that the officer wanted to see if you paid fines or not.

Hope this helps.

They generally only asks for tax transcripts at the interview if your US residency ties are in question during the statutory period. If you were in college or were not required to file due to no income, you may still be asked to provide evidence why you weren't required to file (if US residency ties are in question).
As for proof of auto insurance, that is irrelevant for the application. However, disclosing traffic traffics is required on the application.
