Do not apply for a TN with a new company once you've filed an I-140?

What if I apply for TN with NEW company via mail, so I won't go thru POE?

This in not quite correct, and is being a tad overcautious. Both border (CBP) and mail (USCIS) have been formally directed for YEARS to not deny TN on basis of I-140. This applies equally to renewals and new TNs.
