Do inquiries typically cause a LUD change?

I got a LUD change on my pending 140 (April 6, 2004) yesterday. Was just wondering if it was triggered by the inquiry my lawyer initiated on 26th after we saw the new 140 dates.

yes it usually does. my lawyer did one for I140 and LUD changed. I did two for my I485, LUD changed one out of the two.

Do inquiries really do anything? According to immigrationwatch.com, less than 25% of March applications haven't been touched yet.. my case is one of those I guess. I did inquiries last week and got LUDs but I really doubt that will trigger anything. Not sure what's going on because there's nothing special about my case. RIR, EB3, regular labor, company in good standing..

yes, probably inquiries are useless

They do things at their own pace. But the LUD change was a little bit comforting as it means they have not completely lost the application. I think my case is getting delayed because 140 was filed without the original labor cert and they are trying to get the original labor cert from DOL. At least that's what my lawyer thinks. But it seems a lot of regular Feb/Mar/Apr applications have not been approved either.

Hi
If you don't file your I140/485 with the ORIGINAL copy of the labor certificate, do they USCIS send you an RFE asking you for the original or do they
search for it themselves? Please clarify...
In my case (sub. labor), my attorney filed my I140/485 with a copy of the labor
cert. He does have the ORIGINAL with him and I don't understand why he used
a copy despite my request.

According to my lawyer, USCIS requests DOL for it

From her email -

"Technically the process at the USCIS, is for the officer to request a copy
of the approved Labor Certification to the Department of Labor (DOL). The
delay tends to occur on the DOL side. They have to retrieve the file and
then provide that copy to the USCIS."

In my case, my lawyer did not have the original with her as it was attached to the 140 application of the person who I was substituted for. Later the 140 was revoked as that person was laid off, but the law firm did not get back the original labor cert from USCIS.

In your case, the lawyer should have used the original labor cert if she had it. It probably saves some processing time.

Does this 25% untouched cases include EB2 and EB3?

message change?

Guys,

Along with the LUD does the online message also change when an enquiry is started? Or is it just a LUD change only?

If no inquiry was done and you see a LUD change on your I-140, then it is possible that USCIS has picked up your case for processing...Good Luck.

No LUD change after enquiry

My lawyer did fax enquiry and got reply next day saying "Officer will be assigned to this case" to lawyers office.
I dont see any LUD chnage. Is this means lawyer did nothin?
