Do I still need a letter from former employer after approval?

I am AC21 case. I changed job after >6 months of 485 submission. My 485 got approved this month.

But the lawyer who filed 485 for me suggested that I still ask for a letter from the former employer who supported 485. The lawyer said that it is good to have a detailed letter from them (with info such as when started, when left, what I did ..) since I am a portability case. She said that if I pay a fee, she will get the letter for me.

I am not sure what I need this letter for since my GC is already approved. Is that for Citizenship in the future?
thanx.

Most probably covering all contingencies seem to be the motive behind this.
With regulations no where in the horizon, I would not mind having such a letter in hand... But if you have paystubs and your w-2 is going to tell the whole story in black & white, what is the purpose of the letter?
Were you laid off and you dont have a termination letter?

It is always better to have a nicely worded letter from the past employer mentioning about your job description, duration and a bit of appreciation just before you leave your current employer. It will certainly help you as a refrence letter during your future job search as well as when you apply for Citizenship(in case BCIS questions on your "GC acquisition on fraudulent ground".

I just don't understand.

Why do you need Attorney to get a letter like this. Just talk to your employer and most of them will be too happy to give you a letter like it if they remember you.
