Do I recieve an email confirmation immediately after filing naturalization forms? IMMEDIATE HELP

Ok hi! I need help as soon as possible. My father is fatally sick in India and my green card is about to expire, so I asked a US Citizens and Immigration Sevices and they told me I can file the forms for naturalization and after I receive a confirmation, I can travel with that.

Now my question is do you get the confirmation email right away? Also, is it possible to file for citizenship online?

You can't file online and second the confirmation is not a travel document. How long is your GC valid?
 
If your green card is expired you can't reenter the US with papers from your pending naturalization. You'll need an I-551 stamp in your passport, and to get that stamp you need to apply for green card renewal with form I-90 and pay the fee.

However if you applied for naturalization with more than 6 months remaining on your GC you can get the I-551 stamp for free without filing I-90. But it seems like your green card expires sooner than that.
