Do i need visa for traveling into Mexico or Canada after i get the I-551 stamp?

I am going in to get my passport stamped pretty soon. After that i need to travel into Canada. Normally i need to get a visa to enter into Canada which costs about 50 dollars. Is it true that after I get the greencard stamp in my passport I no longer need a visa to enter Canada or Mexico?

i checked the Canadian and Mexican immigration web pages. You are right. It appears that if you have your green card or other proof that you are a permanent resident, you do not need a tourist visa for trips less than 30 days. I am hoping that they'll take the I-551 stamp as proof of permanent residency.

I think Switzerland is the only other country the US GC holders do not need visa.
