Do I need to have an unexpired I-94 while on EAD?

Hi all,
I am on H-1B now and my I-94 based on the renewed H-1B expires in April 2006.
Now I got my EAD by mail which expires Nov 2006 and I am planning to use the EAD instead of H-1B and so not going to renew H-1B, which means after Apr 2006, I won't have a valid I-94 in my passport.

My question is, do I need to get a valid I-94 somehow based on the EAD or
is it ok not to have a valid I-94?

Thanks for any info.

If somebody asks for ur legal status after noticing expired I-94, you can show them your I-485 Receipt. Make sure you have the original.
