Do I need to carry original receipt?

I am planning to travel outside US on Advance Parole. Do I need to carry original receipt for I-485 application? If yes, is it just advisable to carry or there is a legal requirement to do so? Originals are with my attorney.

Please consult your attorney on that, but as far as I know a copy of the 485 Receipt Notice should be good enough.
 
Carry both if u can. But I think courtsey copies r good enough. I submitted latter even though I had originals too with me.
 
dma_va, I did not get any courtsey copy from VSC for I-485 receipt. Only my attorney got one.

Has anyone else received a courtsey copy?


mavishka, my attorney says just AP is enough.... nothing else is needed.... she is a competent lawyer so I can't dispute her.. Additionally, I am not sure if she will give me the original receipts. She faxed me copies though.

Excuse me. I zoned out on ur question thinking u r talking about PP stamping.


For travelling, u don't really need original I485 application. Photocopy/fax copy will be sufficient and that too for extra safety measure.

But if I were you, I'd still carry a copy of my 485 Receipt Notice and the EAD just to be on the safe side.
 
I traveled with just AP and passport to Canada and had no problems. The AP is an official letter from the INS telling the border guards to let you in. What more could they want?A DNA sample?

Hi

I just traveled out of US a month b4. I carried my original 485 receipt which was advised by my lawyer to carry it. She had mailed me the original copy & i carried it with me.

Copies & originals of 485 receipt, AP, EAD card, valid passport, original & copies of ur recent 3 paystubs, a letter from ur employer.
