Do I need to be on medicine?

I have a positive TB test and the result is ok after the X-ray. But the immigration doctor still puts me on a nine-month medicine. I didn\'t take the medicine since I am breast-feeding my 4-month old baby. I am worried that if I will get a REF for not taking medicine. My informatis is PD: 2/99, RD: 12/8/00, ND: 12/13/01, First FP: 3/27/01, Secone FP: scheduled on May 4. Any inputs will be greatly appreciated.

Check your family doctor (Or OB doctor) again.

As I know , 95% of the Asin people have positive result for TB.

I did not have skin test, because my friend already told me that, So I direct did the X-Ray.

Your immigration doctor may be need back to school.

Thank you for your reply. I am going to see my family doctor this week. I have one more question for you. Do I need to finish all the shots like MMR and TD. The immigration doctor charges me a lot for these shots. One TD for $20 and one MMR for $40. According to her words, I should finish three TD and two MMR. I am living in the Dayton area which is one hour to Columbus. Any suggestion?

First, You may want to find a batter(easy pass) immigration doctor in your area. ( you may want post more help)

My immigration doctor told me "you need to take three TD shut in 6 month(or one year or ???), but the INS will accept after you get first shut ...).

Sometime, Your family doctor can do those shut for you and you insuurance will pay it (because it approved by you family doctor)

By the way, I live in Indiana Columbus, NOT Ohio Columbus.

she normally refers you to your county health department. then the dept to your pcp then to a lung specialist.....

pcp usually suffice

I tested positive for PPD skin test too (X-Ray came back clear). My doctor advised me that most Asians (especially South East Asians) turn out positive. Being very anal about these things, I insisted my doctor to refer me to a specialist (an immunologist). The immunologist also repeated the same story and further elucidated that it was mainly due to commonly used TB vaccines in the SE Asian countries.
Thereafter, I have spoken with a dozen or so friends and family members from Asia. They all confirmed this fact.

Looks like you ended up with an incompetent doctor! You might want to check if he/she really has a valid medical degree!!
