Do I need to attend for visa- Please help me

I am in here in US since 2 years working as a research scholar. I have valid J1 visa for 5 years.
Now I have changed to new lab and have new DS2019s from the new Lab.
I am visiting India in May. Do I need to attend embassy for visa again as I changed to new Lab?

If your J visa stamp valid, you do not have to apply or go to the consulate again even if you extended or transfered your J. You are still in J and the extension or transfer is just a continuation serving the same purpose of your original J.
