Do I need the original receipt notice for work?

My lawyer just helped file a H1B transfer for me a few days ago. Recently she told me that the receipt notice has been received and I am ready to work for the new company. She also faxed me a copy of the receipt notice.

The question is do I need the original receipt notice on my first day to work? Or is the copy good enough for working? For some reasons, the lawyer seems to be unhappy to give me the original receipt notice.

Thank you very much for your help.
