Do I need H1B stamping?

Hi,

I have a H1B visa which is valid until 10th of May and have received my H1B extension. I am planning on a short trip to India. I was wondering if anyone knows if I need to get a H1B stamping done if I'll returning well before my old visa expires. Would it be enough to show the extension documents and the passport (which has the old visa stamping) at the port of entry?
The old H1B and the new one are sponsered by the same company.

I would appreciate if anyone can help me out with this question.

thanks
Ravi

1. You can re-enter US with the visa before 10th May and at post of entry to US you should show your new H1B approval notice and will get the new I-94 valid till the date on your new H1B approval. Once you reach US you can send your passport for Visa Revalidation in US and can get new Visa sticker in your Passport (it takes to get passport back 10to 12 weeks time from the date you send it for Revalidation and have to pay $ 175 as fees)

2. If I am in your position then I will get new H1B sticker from India because it takes only 3-4 days through Visa facilitation services and if you can go to consulate than it will be drop box case and you can get the visa same day as you have previous H1B visa stamped in your passport, please take your original H1B approval notice, Letter from employer that describe your Job title, skills and salary and that you are working with them, recent pay stubs, past w-2 and take the complete I-29 petition with LCA, (that was filed to INS for your H1b extension it will be with Lawyer or your HR, better if lawyer certifies all the pages) if you have 10-15 days stay in India get the visa stamped in India
