do I need EAD renewal?

My current EAD will expire in Jan, 2004. I just came back
to usa using my AP. My lawyer told me that I cannot work
under the H-1B status since I am now in the US
under parolee status. As a parolee, I need a valid
EAD in order to work legally in the US. Is that true?
If I dont want to renew EAD, how can I work legally in the
US? Thanks.

---- NOT true, one can maintain H1 status after entering on AP if you are working for the same employer with whom you were with H1 before your trip, you can also extend H1
Read and give it to your lawyer it seems he just know how to fill up forma

---- You are ON H1 status and CAN work no need of EAD. But You should renew EAD and file for EAD and AP( you can directly file no need of lawyer he may be suggesting to get some money for EAD filing), it is good to have EAD and AP, having EAD and using EAD are different matters, many keep valid EAD but don’t use
