Do I need AP for Travel outside the country?

My Green Card is in process with a different company than what I am working for. My current H1 (H4 for family) are valid through 2004 with my current employer. I have just applied for I-140 with different employer and I may be applying I-485 in a couple of months.

Can I use my present H1/H4 visas for Travel even after applying for Adjustment of Status, since my I-485 is with a different company?

I think, I can travel with my H1/H4 visas since I am still working with the employer who sponsored my H1. Correct me if I am wrong.

GC is for the future job..

Only after 485 approval are you expected to join the sponsorign employer. So you can use any valid H1. See the INS FAQ on AP, people on H1 (H4) need not get AP at all while on AOS. If your spouse wants to work and so gets EAD then she has to use AP (but you can continue to use H1)..

Thanks

Thanks Jaxen for your reply. My spouse does not intend to work now. She wants to leave the country for a visit with children.
