Do I need a new TN for promotion?

My current TN as an accountant expires on 12/28, and I just filed for renewal for another 3 years for the same position. My current empolyer is promoting me from "accountant" to "finance supervisor", and it will likely happen in Sep.

Do I need to file a new TN? Thanks in advance for any advice!
 
Your current TN doesn't cover it and nor does your renewal, since your duties won't match the letter; in fact, you may not be TN-eligible for such a managerial role. You may need H1.

If I start applying for H1 now, how would the timing work out? Do I have to get H1 approved before I could start at my new position?

I already received a receipt for my TN renewal application. Should I withdraw my application? I wasn't expecting this when I was offered the supervising job. This will change everything.

What are the chances for me to apply for GC? I heard that accounting profession might be harder.
