Do I need a lawyer to submit I-485?

I've just got my greencard and soon will be filing I-485 for my family. They are derivative asylees. I did file my 485 with the help of my laywer. Now I am wondering if I really need to pay for filing 2 I-485 applications for my wife and daughter.

Is there anything complex or tricky in the filing process? What would you guys say based on your experience?

Thanks
:)

Hi Concord.

Well... you can file them by your own and save the attorney fees... (although you will have to pay the immigration fees to USCIS, just like a regular I-485 file)

If I were you I will do it with a lawyer... just to make sure everything goes fine and to save myself of filling up the forms....but again... it is just me....

Good luck...

BTW: Concord, CA? if so I can recommend you a very good asylum immigration lawyer in SF that did all the I-485s for my family....

Thanks for advice ccordova624. I'm not in Concord, though very close - San Jose. How much did your lawyer charge you for filing I-485? Your recommendation would be helpful.

Thank you!
