Hi,

I am now a GC holder, and because my job I have to travel abroad at least twice every month. I got my RTD on February this year and I was traveling with it, but since I got my GC I decided to travel with my NP. My question is what do I suppose to do with my RTD?, Send it back to the USCIS?.

Thanks in advance for your response

Hi

U cant travel with a RTD if you 're a GC holder (you 're no longer a refugee, now). What you need to do is return the RTD by applying for a reentry permit. if you come back at Point of Entry, IO will cancel the RTD.

That is what I think.....any inputs?

You are allowed to have an RTD if you have a a green card that you got based on either your asylum or refugee status. However, your category has to be Permanent Resident, not asylee. If that is the case, the IO may retain your RTD and you would have to apply for a new one.

Green card holders who were asylees can use their RTDs.
