Do I have to inform USCIS about my worklocation while on EAD ?

I am currently having valid EAD, my employer and I are based out of Boston.

I recently got a new Project Assignment in Chicago. I will be travelling weekly to Chicago and continue living in Boston.

My Employer informed me that they have to inform USCIS regarding my new work location and the filing fee is around $350.00.

I have not heard of this before, Is this true ?

1) Do you work on the EAD or H-1B?
2) If you already work based on EAD it doesn't matter where you work and for whom (EAD is good for any job, anywhere in the US).
3) What your employer says most likely refers to H-1B work location ammendment. If you are still on H-1B and plan on staying on (despite having EAD but not using it) do the ammendment. Once you use the EAD you lose H-1B status.

I have been working on EAD for the past 16 months. My Employer did not renew my H1 as I already have an EAD.

So I guess, I will have to inform my Employer and let him know that there is no obligation for me to work anywhere in US and I don't have to inform and/or file work location ammendment while I am working on my EAD.

Also, this may be a gimmick played by my employer's law firm to milk some more money from my employer.

Ead

I did not hear such a thing. If this is true ask your employer to show the form and the filing fee printed on form or the website

Sounds like BS to me ....

Like others have said, with EAD you don't have to report a change in work location.

I would pass on the "offer" :D
