Do I have to go to India for L1-visa restamping??

I have valid BL1 visa and I94, but visa stamp is expiring in Oct-2005. To be able to go outside US and come back anytime, do I have to go to India first and get it re-stamped? Are there any other options?

If I must go to India, can I just book my appointment from here so that I may plan to go to India around the appointment?

As far as i know you have to go to india(country of residence/citizenship) to get it re-stamped. Yes you can book an appointment from US provided you get the VISA fee paid by someone in India in the designated HDFC bank. Heard that BL1B's r rejected these days. So, plan accordingly :) .
