Do FP ahead of the scheduled appointment ?

I see a lot of people do their FP ahead of the scheduled appointment, mostly
immediately after receipt of the notice.

To do the FP before the appointment, do I need to call the local INS to schedule or
I can just walk in and do it. Is there any down side of doing this ?

PS. I just get my FP notice at SFO scheduled three weeks later.

Just walk in

Walk in to SFO center. I did my early FP in San Jose. I was told
by a co-worker to reach there around 3:00 pm and he said that the
guard will let me in if there is not too much rush.

Try to complete FP early. I heard that it helps. For me I am
still waiting (Sched. FP 11/27, done on 10/30 and AVM says "colleted
on Nov 16th and waiting for review ...&quot.

Try San Jose ASC

I tried three times to do early FP at SFO unsuccessfully. SFO ASC may not be the best place to try early FP. Try San Jose. Some persons I know have done it at SJ even when their appointment was at a different ASC.
