do a lot of people become US citizen, then immediately move back to the old country?

No, people become citizens because they love this country. Look at lines outside US embassies, that shows how many people love US. If they dont like, they wont bother to stand in those lines. Yes, we are at war with Iraq and whole terrorist industry. All citizens love to fight for their new motherland.

Maybe there is a way to get those guys who stand outside US embassies to pitch in. For example a tourist visa in exchange for potential gun shot wounds. This way all people all over the world would love the US - although some would be non US citizens. After suffering gun shot wounds they could be deported back to their country. But the very thought that they were able to see the US would reinforce their love for many years to come.

Maybe somebody can pitch in on this love?

Also - how many people loved the fact that their spouses where not allowed into the US when they were on GC? Did this reinforce the love? Do people love the US more than their spouses, family?

How many limbs would you give away on the spot in order to prove your love?

I think a lot of people may not think of getting USC if their green card allowed them to be out of US for longer period of time. Especially in software industry, I know a couple of people (on GC) who left their jobs because they were asked to Europe for about a year.

Also having USC means that you dont need visa in a lot of European countries. So if you miss your European connection on your way to India, you are not stuck at the airport, you can go out and live like a man. :)

As some others have said, everyone has their own reasons. Patriotism doesnt figure into most of the reasons.
