Hi guys,

I need to clarify something about a DMV record.

I have a red light. I paid the fine and traffic school. I am going go to court to request a certified copy of payment just in case.

Second, I have an accident. It was a minor crush in a parking lot. We both reported to our insurance and it was my fault so I got a poing in my record. No police involved and I didn´t have to pay any fine.
You told me that it should be better that I bring with me a DMV record. Do I need to request a regular one or special record that include this minor car accident?.

I didn´t disclouse it in my N400 because I read that in other forums. Should I tell to IO?. Do you thing could I have some problem?

Thank you

iceway,

As I've already mentioned in another thread, there is no need to bring a DMV record or report the car accident. If you disclose your traffic ticket, just bring the court disposition to the interview. That's all you need.

Even if you didn't mention in N-400, its better to carry some sort of proof that you have paid all dues.

Thanks for your answer,

I didn´t have a ticket for my car accident. Both parts reported to our insurance. I got 1 point in my driver license. So I am scared that they thing that something else happend. In a regular DMV record don´t say anything about the accident and I don´t want that they thing it could have been DUI or something like that. That is because I was asking if I should bring a special DMV record just to make sure.

Thanks.

Traffic incident. Red light ticket. N400 ambiguous question

hi guys,

I read different answer about traffic tickets and bla, bla, bla.
Well, I thing that some questions are ambiguous. there is not a specific questions about traffic fines. eg:

Part. 10

16. Have you ever been arrested, cited, or detained by any law enforcement officer...?.

I think that this is the only question that it could be possible but it is not perfectly clear. The problem is the word citation. I got a fine by automated red light. A law enforcement officer process it and the court sent me a citation.

I called USCIS about this issue and they told me that the question is related to crimes or arrested by a law enforcement officer.

Anyway, I asked this question just to make sure because I didn´t put it in my N400 application.

So I guess if I ask for traffic incidents in my interview I´ll disclosure it.
Thanks

Car accident. DMV record

Hi guys,

Sorry about putting again this question but I want some clarification.

I didn´t have a ticket for my car accident. Both parts reported to our insurance but I got 1 point in my driver license because It was %100 my fault. So I am scared that they thing that something else happend. In a regular DMV record don´t say anything about the accident and I don´t want that they thing it could have been DUI or something like that. That is because I was asking if I should bring a special DMV record just to make sure.

Thanks.

There is no such thing as a "special" DMV record. The USCIS does not check DMV records as part of the naturalization process, so don't worry about the 1 point on your driver license. There is also no requirement to report car accidents anywhere on the N-400 or at the interview. Also, just to reiterate, there is no need to disclose the ticket issued by the red light camera. It is not issued to you, but to the vehicle that you were driving at the time. Moreover, it was NOT issued by a law enforcement officer. Again, there is NO REQUIREMENT to disclose either of those incidents.

On the other hand, if you've had any traffic tickets issued by police officers and decide to disclose them, make sure that you bring proof of payment or court dispositions to the interview.
