Hi right,
Got back from NYC last weekend. It was a "Stamping", not interview, by the way. Evertything was done within 5 min. I brought old EAD and photos, but none were requested. We were asked to go to INS Garden city Long Island office, and it took us 2.5hr to get there by subway and bus, 30min late.
Anyway, two officers sit behind a makeshift desk in a huge hall. I guess it is normally used for naturalization ceremonies. It looked to them just as business as usual, no big deal, no questions.

Why you were sent to NY Garden City for stamping? Your files were transferred to NYC local office or NY Graden City office?

Is Garden City the area you lived before?

I used to live in Manhattan. Case was transfered to NYC INS office. Check the website you will notice they have offices at both Federal Plaza and Garden city, while the later mostly processes naturalization cases. No idea though why mine ended up there.
