my husband of 26 years and i are divorcing, he has held a green card for 26 years. i'm not sure if he renewed it, as of 2 mos ago he did not. any repercussions? for me? do i need to file affidavit of support?
i presume you are a USC and sponsored his green card.
why would you file affidavit of support since you are divorcing? ... not your problem any more.
no repercussions for you.
from his perspective, he might (or not) have a green card without expiry date. that's how they used to do it earlier.
and even if the card expires, the resident status does not. all you/he needs to do is to file the right paperwork.

The affidavit of support is filed in order to bring someone into the country as an immigrant. Also, it did not exist as an enforceable contract 26 years ago. Why has he not filed for naturalization after all this time? It seems strange. It's no problem for you.
