Divorcing after 2 years being married but before green card extension. What to do?

Hi everyone.

I moved to the States 2 years ago and got married with my wife. She is a citizen, so after the marriage I applied for the green card an received a 2 year green card about 6 months after the marriage.
We just had been married for 2 years now, but the green card that I received expires in June. And then we are supposed to have another interview and then they are supposed to give me my 8 years green card if we pass the interview. Sadly things are not going well between us and divorce seems likely to happen soon if things don't change. So I was wondering if we get divorced before I get my extension is there any way I can still get it considering that we've been married for 2 years?? Any advise??

Thanks!

You can still get your extension even if you divorce however you will have to complete [not just file for divorce, but complete it meaning having the final court divorce decree] the divorce before you can file for the extension. All the answers to your questions are located here:

Read through the whole thread and educate yourself, then if you have further pertinent questions you can ask. It's not easy so you better have overwhelming evidence that your marriage was not a sham marriage purely for immigration purposes.
